Last Day: The High Priestess

The High Priestess from The Shadowscapes Tarot
The High Priestess from The Shadowscapes Tarot

This post has been pre-recorded for your reading pleasure because I am on a plane! That’s right, I’m travelling ALL FREEKING DAY LONG from Portland, Oregon to NYC. Wooot. *regains composure* This is the day I have been eagerly awaiting for the entire countdown. We’re at the last card, and this is a great card to kick off the 5-day festivities: The High Priestess. She is the mirror of The Magician. Where he controls the elements and manifests his desires, The High Priestess allows intuition to guide her. She is wisdom personified and is in touch with how she feels.

The High Priestess is going to be a great travel buddy for me. And she’s got her work cut out for her as I try and keep calm and not stress out about boarding times, delays, and the general plane jitters that come when flying. Her name and her energy are my mantra today. She’ll keep me “grounded” throughout the entire 12 hour trip. I plan to read a bit on the plane, maybe nap, maybe meditate, wiggle and squirm a lot, and hopefully work on editing some projects I have. Wish me a safe travels and an on-time arrival. See you on the other side of the continent where I’ll kick off a daily series of what went on at The Readers Studio. Thanks for reading along in this countdown.

2 Days: Wheel of Fortune

I’m amazed at how fast this countdown went. We have only two more cards left. Then it’s Readers Studio and tarot craziness in NYC. Today’s card is the Wheel of Fortune, which usually sits rather silently almost at the center of the Majors. A card of karma, of watching the seasons change and things moving in a circular pattern, I usually see two different ways to read this card. Either I can be swept up in the movement of the circle, ever spinning. Or I can be the stillness in the center of the wheel, observing the chaos spinning.

Tomorrow I hop a plane to the other side of USA. I have two planes and won’t arrive until 11:00 pm. That will be the movement part of this card. However, today I will just continue to sit and marvel at the amazingness that Nature and life brings to me. I’ll finish packing, read, enjoy the remaining time I have with my hubby and then rest knowing I’ll have a great time and trip (more flurry) for the remainder of the week.

3 Days: The Hermit

Today’s card is The Hermit. As like the other cards in the countdown pattern, I find his placement fitting. The Hermit is an archetype of the Wise Old One who lives alone. I envision this being happy and content in their own presence and enjoys watching the world move, rather than being a busy part of it. The Hermit reminds us to take time out for ourselves and enjoy our own company. He gives us space to reflect and integrate all that we have learned in our daily living.

In two days I board a plane for New York. I spent most of this weekend being social and hanging out with friends and my hubby. Today I take for myself. I will spend some quiet time reading, meditating, and finalizing my attire for the week I am gone. In this sense, I become my own Hermit, a wise woman who reflects on where I have been and where I am, and in some respects, thinks about where I want to be and become.

4 Days: The Heirophant

The Hierophant from The Shadowscapes Tarot
The Hierophant from The Shadowscapes Tarot

Happy Earth Day everyone. Today’s card is The Hierophant. Which, in a way, is a perfect card for today. The Hierophant is spiritual mentor or a teacher. And as a pagan Nature, the elements, messages from the great beyond, and the universe are just some of my teachers. However, this archetype’s lessons can come from anywhere. Teachers can also be the people and critters that we have in life. Even Tarot is a great mentor and instructor.

In four days, I’ll be surrounded with a whole room full of potential and current teachers. I get to see Wald and Ruth Ann Amberstone again. They’re my teachers for my Tarot Correspondence Course (also put on through The Tarot School, which I have sorely neglected). About 200+ students from all over the world will be sitting in a ballroom for 3 days, listening and learning and discussing Tarot with one another. We’ll be learning new tips and tricks from three gentlemen running the master classes. All in all, I’m glad to be learning from The Hierophant again.

5 Days: Temperance

Five days left. Today’s card is Temperance. The card of making magic, alchemy, and trying to find the balance in all that we do. I view this card as my personal mission statement of trying to blend balance into my life and all I do.

Quite fitting, I think… especially considering I got sucked into the Open Beta of Diablo 3 and totally forgot to get my post up by midnight. Looks like I’ll be doing my best to find time to play this totally addicting game, working on my tarot book, and getting ready for my trip. As for the Readers Studio, I’ll be trying to find time between having a grand time and sleeping and eating and everything else one does at a convention.
