15 Days: The Tower

The Devil from The Shadowscapes Tarot
The Tower from The Shadowscapes Tarot

The Tower is one of the more difficult cards to deal with. Conventionally known as the card that will turn your world upside down, this card bears some heavy hitting energy. In most certain circumstances, The Tower happens when things are at their worst. It’s a shocking jolt to the system and this energy can be hard to deal with. However, I tend to liken this as a reset button, where you can have a do-over day.

And that’s The Tower I see going on in my life. With the move I’m getting a chance to re-envision my lifestyle. Me and my hubby are moving to a new house, a new floor plan that fits our current life better. I’ll be in a new area to market my businesses to. When I go to the Readers Studio, I’ll feel like I have a whole 4 days of new material to learn and a whole new temporary autonomous zone to live and thrive in. It’s a bit overwhelming and scary but also exciting.

16 Days: The Devil

The Devil is probably one of the most potent majors of the tarot. He lures us in with lusty promises and tells us that it’s okay to give into those desires. He is, after all, temptation incarnate. While sometimes it’s good to give into urges occasionally, discipline is also needed. While we all think that it’s the Devil’s fault for pushing us and teasing us, remember, the chains around our necks are loose and we allow ourselves to be as trapped as we let him.

I gave into the Devil’s call today. Instead of going out and getting boxes to start packing items, I slept in and took a mental health day. It felt so good to stay in my pjs and just read books and do nothing. The lure, of “You don’t really NEED to spend all those hours working on stuff. You can sleep in. After all, you didn’t go to bed until after 3am last night,” was powerful. And while I know that it’s okay to have one day like this…it’s too easy for me to slide down and keep on doing nothing. I don’t want to give into his vices. I have big plans for my life and they require me to remove the collar and not give into the soothing voice of the Devil.

17 Days: The Star

Kicking it off this week on the countdown, we have The Star. A card of hope, tranquility, and regeneration. The Star appears as a reminder for those who feel stuck and without a game plan.

In my Readers Studio journey, this card becomes my reminder that everything is okay and is how it should be, no matter how stressed I feel. I know packing up my possessions and getting the house ready to sell WILL stress me and cause me a lot of sleepless nights. In those times, I just need to breathe, meditate, and remember that things aren’t bad and that I will get through this. Even if things go weird on the flight to the Readers Studio, or if there’s any drama, it too will pass. And those moments of tension are just that… seconds along the journey of life that we all have to experience.

18 Days: Justice

Justice from The Shadowscapes Tarot

Ah, Justice. To some, this card represents instant karma, where actions have an effect and what comes around goes around. To others, it suggests that everything relies on a balance between a fulcrum and that now is the time to find the equilibrium in your life.

With the whirlwind of things going on around me, Justice is a place I’m seeking–that eye of the storm where I can still myself. I want to sit in the middle, look outwards at the swirl of things moving quickly around me. This swirl represents the projects, stuff, and things going on in my life. I want to sit in the middle of all this, with pen in hand, and write down everything that comes to me that can detangle the tornado. Justice is my way to step back and explore the craziness around me so that I can bring my life back to harmony.

19 Days: Death

Today’s stop on the countdown features Death. Talk about how timely and appropriate this card is for me. Death is all about change and transformation, and the phoenixes on the Shadowscapes Tarot illustrate this concept brilliantly.

I’ve always said that change is one thing everyone can expect. Life is one big series of change, one after another. And right now I’m faced with a huge change in my personal journey. Having to move from the home I have lived in for 12 years to a new one down in Southwest Portland, OR.

While I am excited about this change, I’m also nervous and scared for I have never sold a house or purchased a new one before. There’s a whole slew of unknowns and I wish I could wave the Magician’s magic wand and just have this all done in a single poof. Instead, I need to remind myself to breathe and take this change one step at a time, and not rush into the flames of change to fast.
